Personality Development

Personality is how someone defines themself and how they act. The Big Five Factors of Personality are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. Openness personalities are imaginative, interested in variety, and are independent. Conscientiousness personalities are thoughtful, goal-directed behaviors, and organized. Extraversion personalities are sociable, talkative, and emotional. Agreeableness personalities are trustworthy, kind, and affectionate. Neuroticism personalities are anxious, irritable, and emotionally instable. Conscientiousness students have the highest grade point average. They also have better interpersonal relationships.

I am going to incorporate the big five personality test in my math classroom. I am going to have my students take the personality test so they can figure out who they are and also so I can figure out who my students are. After they take the personality test, as a class we will discuss the differences between all the different personalities. We will discuss the pros and cons of each one. Knowing my students personality will help me as a teacher know how to teach and respond to each individual (1.2).
