Standard 1: Teachers should understand how students develop and differ
from each other. As teachers we should take in consideration of all students
and how they learn. Our students are not just going to learn differently but
they will also act differently because they all come from different
backgrounds.
Standard 2: Teachers should know the learning process of their students
and how to relate it to get their students to achievement. They should have
knowledge of different theories and concepts that relate to the learning
process. Teachers should be able to teach in a variety of ways to make sure all their students understand but they should not lower their expectations for
any students.
Standard 5: Teachers should have a positive learning environment so that
all of their students will feel safe. It should be productive and well
organized while being managed so that the students feel comfortable in the
classroom.
The
developmental standards give teachers guidelines on how to teach. As teachers
we will have all different types of classrooms. With these standards as
teachers we will be able to teach our classes all similar to each other. The developmental standards do not only shape our teachers but it shapes the
classroom as a whole. In these standards it may be hard to meet every students
needs without lowering my expectations. As a teacher I need to remember not to
lower my expectations because then that students expectations for themselves
lowers as well. Also, I would like to be able to develop a variety of different homework assignments which may be difficult because I am going to be a math teacher.
